I PUBLISHED A BOOK...MY 13TH NOVEL

Hey Loves,

Here we go again!

After a ten-month hiatus, I hit the publish button today on my 13th novel. I am so happy to bring you this exciting Romance/Suspense story. Here is Broken Dove:

SHE is hypnotic.
SHE is innocent.
SHE is pure.

And too much of a temptation for a man with a past like mine.

But I am a man who gets what he wants. Always. No exceptions.

POWER. PRESTIGE. WEALTH.

I have it all. Or so I thought until my eyes landed on her enchanting green ones. From that moment I knew she was mine. I knew I should have just walked away but there was something about her. I was tempted to claim her. Maybe it was the broken look in her eyes, maybe it was simply her. I felt a connection between us that was undeniable. From that moment I was obsessed.

SHE took a chance.
SHE followed her heart.
SHE trusted me.

I fell in love. I know I should walk away. I can’t. I promised her that the burdens and fear from both our pasts would not destroy what we have.

And I never go back on my word.

A Forever Halloween!

A Forever Halloween
By: Mary A. Wasowski

“Daddy! Pay attention, this is important,” my precious but very demanding daughter shouted, also known as our ‘little ruler’ of the Reed Dynasty. Next, to her mother, she has me wrapped around her finger and I absolutely love it. She’s our princess.

“One more sentence and you have my complete and undivided attention.” I hit send and then closed my laptop. “Yes, my princess, how can I be of assistance to you?” she smiled brightly and wrapped her arms around my neck.

“Daniel and Cameron want to go as the Incredibles for Halloween but I don’t want to be one, so they said they won’t go trick or treating with me if I wear my princess costume. Daddy, I want a family meeting.” It took every ounce of control not to break out into laughter. Oh, my little girl is awesome. She is a daddy’s girl all the way.

“Okay, we can have a family meeting but first I would like to speak with your brothers because I’m finding it hard to believe that they won’t go trick or treating with you because of your costume choice. Are you absolutely positive those were the words they used?”

“I'm sure, Daddy. The boys hurt my feelings.”

“Okay, I believe you but I also believe there’s more to the story. Now, run along into the kitchen and see Priscilla. She’s making cookies today and I know she would love your help.” She gave me a kiss on my cheek and hopped off my lap. I leaned back in my chair and sighed deeply before Reese made her appearance. “You heard?” I asked my wife as she took me into her arms and kissed me senseless.

“I did and yes, there is more to the story.”

“Tell me, I’m intrigued.”

“Yes, the boys want to go as the Incredibles but want all of us to dress up and Fallon told them she didn’t think you would want to.”

“That’s ridiculous, I have never missed dressing up for Halloween and it’s something I look forward to. Why would she tell them that?”

“Truth?” she winced.

“Is there any other kind? Come on, it can’t be that bad? Is it?”

“For a ten-year-old, it's the end of the world. Here's the dilemma. The father/daughter dance has been rescheduled and it happens to fall on the same night as Halloween.”

“Um, Halloween is next Wednesday, don’t you think this is kind of short notice? And why the change?”

“The PTA moms went a little crazy this year and always wanted to do a theme and pretty much it was an all-in vote and now Fallon is caught between the two. She has been looking forward to the dance but Halloween is a kid’s holiday and she has so much fun with her brothers. She doesn't want to disappoint you or the boys.

“So, making up a story is her answer to solving the issue?”

“She’s ten and she knows her daddy can fix anything, even two events on one night.”

“And she would be right. I know the perfect person that can turn her frown upside down and all it will take is one phone call from me.”

“Now, I’m intrigued. Oh, my god! yes, it’s perfect.” Reese clapped her hands. We said the name of the one person who could give our kids a night they will never forget. “Rosalyn Davenport Baker Tate” The queen of LA’s premiere party planning and nowadays we call her family since she married my right-hand man, Donovan.

“I will call her right now,” Reese said happily.

“Why don’t I give her a call after I call the lovely Patty Peterson.”

“She’s not that bad, Walker, she just loves her role in the PTA and she means well.”

“Yeah, well I pay a fortune in our kids' tuition and I am on the board, so leave her to me.”

“Be nice, promise me,” she said.

“Aren’t I always?” I winked.

“Not always but those times are reserved for only me.”

“You better believe it, baby!”

An hour later, Patty Peterson was my new best friend and the dance/Halloween extravaganza was now being hosted by the Reed Family on our estate where all the little princesses will be dancing with their daddies and then they will join their siblings for a haunted hayride, magical corn maze adventure, and all the candy you can eat. Over dinner, the Reed children were a bit silent for my liking but in their defense, I hadn’t shared all I had arranged on Halloween for them and their friends. I tapped my wine glass to bring them to attention. Three sets of wide eyes were now focused all on me. I sat up straighter and balanced my chin over my folded hands. A move that showed them I was serious about what I had to say.

“Now, I understand you three,” I said as I pointed to Fallon, Daniel, and Cameron, “are having a disagreement over your individual plans for Halloween. Let’s talk about it.” All at once, our kids began talking, more like yelling at each other and blaming the other for why we were having this conversation now. “Hold it! Any problem you three are having will not get solved in this manner. Now, apologize to each other right now or no one will be enjoying Halloween, and I mean it.” Reese looked over to me and winked giving me all the room to make things right with the kids. After they apologized, I continued on. “Okay, boys, I know you have your heart set on dressing up as the Incredibles. I think it’s a great idea and it’s so great that mom and dad are going to dress up as well.”

“Daddy, what about?” Fallon began to say and then I raised my hand up to stop her.

“Let me finish, please. As I said, great idea but the father/daughter dance falls on the same night which causes a problem, am I correct?”

“Yes,” they all answered.

“Now, I’ve come up with a solution that will make everyone happy thanks to Aunt Rosalyn. We are going to host the dance here at our home along with a Halloween party for all of your friends and their families.”

“Really?” Fallon asked in excitement, while the boys gave the other a high five.

“Yes, you not only get your dance with me but your brothers get their night as well. And, here's the best part: You don't have to give up one thing for the other. You can enjoy both and have a great night.”

They all said their apologies again to the other and the boys, always young gentlemen gave their sister a hug. I couldn't be more pleased and all was well in the Reed household again. Daddies are supposed to be their kid’s heroes and it is a job I gladly do every single day as their father. If it means opening our home up to hundreds of people with their kids to make my three happy, well, it’s what I do for them. Jackson gave me a lot of practice before Fallon, Daniel, and Cameron came along. I’ve had to step up my game quite a lot over the years but at the end of the day if it brings smiles to their faces. It's all worth it.

Fallon felt bad for arguing with her brothers, so she had Reese alter her costume. She dressed up as Violet Incredible with wearing a matching cloak that she said was an invisibility cloak with secret powers. I loved her imagination. We danced for hours and then she along with her brothers and about a hundred of their closest friends enjoyed all the Halloween festivities.
Our kids were in dreamland by the time their heads hit the pillows. We kissed them all a good night and made our way to our room.

“Oh, Walker, you know how many points you scored tonight with our kids? Every single parent and kid from their school? Even Patty couldn’t stop smiling.”

“Well, I live to make the PTA happy.”

“Stop it, you know what I mean.”

“I do my love, and I know the perfect way you can thank me.”

“Really? And what do you suggest?” she smiled wickedly knowing I had plans for us tonight. Our room was our private playground built just for me and for Reese.

“How about we change into our Halloween costumes, you know, the adult kind and have a little fun of our own? What do you say?”

“I say, yes, but what am I wearing exactly?” she purred as she ran her fingers up and down my naked chest.

“I believe anyone of your corsets will suffice. I do love taking them off with my teeth. Now, go and come back so I can love on you.” I slapped her delectable ass as she got out of the bed and walked into her closet. Reese stepped out a few minutes later with her long hair tousled and wearing her emerald green corset, my favorite. “You are a temptress.”

“In your eyes, I am.” She blushed under my compliments.

“Come here, baby” I gestured with my finger. She stalked over like the sexy minx she was. God, I loved and wanted her always.

“Okay, now that I’m here and you have me exactly where you want me. What shall we do first?”

“How soon you forget, Reese. Don’t you know you are my beauty?”

“I never forget, Walker, not even for a second.”

“Good, because I’m your beast and I’m about to devour every inch of you. Happy Halloween to me.”

Mary

April 25th, 2018
Subject: My two cents…again!

Hey Loves,

So, I was sitting here in front of my computer intending to write but I made the mistake of browsing on a few of my favorite pages specifically People Magazine. The first article I see in big bold letters is, actress Anne Hathaway shuts down body shamers on the red carpet. She explains that she purposely put on weight for a movie role.

Here’s my question: Why does she have to explain herself at all? Oh, yes, because she has chosen a line of work that critiques every last inch of her physical appearance.

And… I saw the movie I Feel Pretty last week starring Amy Schumer. I laughed practically throughout the entire movie because she’s a comedic actress and I thought she was funny but what I didn’t like was the real subject matter underneath it all and that’s body image and what strangers think when they look at you.

Maybe it was naïve in thinking but when I was watching the scenes with the beautiful perfect models and how they treated Amy’s character, I was like… no, are there really people out there who behave like this? And sadly, the answer is yes.

No one says boo when a man puts on fifty pounds for a role but when it comes to a woman, that’s a big no way in Hollywood. Sometimes I just want to scream at my monitor when I read this bullshit because that’s exactly what it is. Women from all walks of life are beautiful. I’ve always believed on the inside counting more than what’s on the outside. You can be supermodel tall with legs that go on for days, a zero waist, and flawless skin.

BUT… if you are pretty much an asshole on the inside and treat people poorly then you’re ugly and it doesn’t matter how much the palette of make-up paints you and the hair product that makes your hair shiny and gorgeous. It won’t mean a damn thing if you can’t show kindness, love, compassion, respect, I can go on but I think you get it.

AND… maybe a mean person will read this and say, yeah, that’s what all the fat girls say. Well, I’m not rolling out the door but I do struggle with my weight on a daily basis and have for years. Every day I age it becomes harder to face but I do to the best of my ability and the goal is always for better health. I want to be as productive as I can in my life. I want my mind and body healthy which takes a lot of discipline and work on my part.

Now, back to topic. I may never meet Anne Hathaway in this lifetime or any other famous actress but if we were friends, I probably would advise her to tell her so-called body shamers a big FU and then depending on the time of the day, we would laugh over coffee or wine.

Sparkle on loves!

Xoxo,
Mary

A Forever Mother’s Day
By: Mary A. Wasowski

As I anticipated Reese’s first Mother’s Day with Fallon, our beautiful new baby girl, I smiled remembering the time I had surprised her. It was Valentine’s Day, and it so happened to mark the end of the longest six weeks of my life. I was starved for Reese, and I counted the days until I would be able to make love to her again, but she was nervous. As I sat behind my desk in my office at Reed Global, my mind brought me back to that very day.
“Talk to me. What’s going on in that beautiful head of yours?”
“Beautiful? Oh, Walker, how can you say that? Look at me, I’m a mess.”
Tears began to form in her eyes, which always gutted me deep down to my soul. How could Reese doubt herself? And to me, of all people?
“Reese, where are these tears coming from? You are the most gorgeous woman on the planet and the mother of my child. I love every inch of you. I am dying to be inside of you again. Reese, you are my goddess.”
“You never see me any other way, do you?”
“No, I don’t. You know I am a beast when it comes to how I feel about you. I will take you any way that I can have you, and you know that. Reese, you are breathtaking, and having our child has just made you beyond desirable to me. I am a starved man and need all of you for my survival.
I loved my wife. She was my life. She was my happily forever after, and her love made a broken man whole again. Our precious little baby was now just over four months old, and every single day spent with her has been magical.
It was my life’s mission to make Reese happy, and when she was happy, I was happy. I was all set to phone my event planner that I kept on speed dial, but then I was interrupted with a call on my private line. To my surprise, it was Nana Lila, Reese’s beloved grandmother.
“Lila, what a surprise! How are you?” I asked.
“Hi handsome, I’m doing well, thank you for asking. Let me get right to the point. A woman at my age has no time to waste.”
I was grinning like a fool. This woman did not mince words. I cleared my throat and then asked what I could do for her.
“Walker, I am not getting any younger, and neither is Thomas. With the birth of our great-great granddaughter, Fallon, I want to seize the day. Thomas has been doing well in regards to his health, and I just passed my check-up with flying colors. I know its short notice, but I would like to take a trip back home to Ireland, and invite Reese and beautiful Fallon to join us.”
Wow! This was big news. I wasn’t sure if I could just send my family off to Ireland, and without me accompanying them, but I also wondered if I was invited to join them on this trip.
“Lila, that sounds amazing, and I am very happy to hear you are doing so well, and Thomas too. Having said that, the baby is only four months old, and a trip to Ireland would take some planning.”
“Hogwash, Walker! Now, I know babies. Fallon has received all of her immunizations, and besides, you have already taken her to Germany, so this trip would be no different.”
Well, she’s got me there.
“Okay, Lila, you’re right. When do you want to take this trip? I can make all the arrangements and provide my plane for you.”
“This weekend for Mother’s Day.”
“Come again? I thought you said, Mother’s Day.”
“I did, and it has to be this weekend.”
“May I ask why? Now, I certainly do not want to stand in your way of seizing the day, but it’s Reese’s first Mother’s Day with Fallon, and I had a few surprises of my own for her.”
“Walker, you have the rest of your life to make Reese happy with your grandiose surprises, I do not. I don’t mean to get sassy, you know I love and think the world of you, but I need this now.”
“Okay, Lila, if it means that much to you, I will arrange it, but on one condition.”
“Anything.”
“May I join you?”
“I’m sorry, Walker, that should have been the first thing I asked. Yes, you must be with us.”
“Okay, I will have Jenny phone you later with all of the arrangements and itinerary.”
“Walker, all you need to do is get us there, and I’ll take care of the rest.”
“Fair enough, we will speak soon.”
“Walker?”
“Yes, Lila?”
“This is my surprise for Reese, please do not tell her.”
“I think she may be suspicious when we board a flight to Ireland, and I don’t tell her the reason as to why.”
“I’ll take care of it. Please send the plane for us, and we will meet you in LA.”
After I disconnected my call with Lila, I wasn’t feeling all that great about this mystery trip, but it was Lila, and I knew whatever she had cooking up would be amazing for Reese. They had such a close relationship, and one I now get to be a part of. I had Jenny make as many arrangements as she could per Lila’s instructions, and then went home to tell Reese the ‘cover story’ let’s hope she buys it.
I had left the office a little earlier than usual, wanting to get home to Reese. When I entered our bedroom, she was sound asleep with Fallon all nestled and protected beside her. She must have nursed her into a milk coma and then fell asleep with our baby. She looked so beautiful. My beautiful wife and child. I seized the day and snapped a photo of the moment that I could not look away from. She startled awake, and then I leaned in to properly kiss her hello.
“Welcome home, Walker. I missed you.”
“I missed you more. How’s our little one?”
“Perfect.”
“Just like you.”
“You have always seen me that way, haven’t you?”
“Always. You are the most beautiful woman in the world, and now that you have given me this precious gift, well, that makes you even more wonderful and so sexy. Never doubt my love for you.”
“Okay, I was just checking.”
“That’s my sexy vixen.”
“So what brings you home so early? Not that I’m complaining.”
“We are going on a trip, and I’ve been told to pack your things, along with Fallon’s, and to have us on my plane by midnight tonight.”
She looked stunned. “Where are we going? You know I love anything you plan for me, but it’s Mother’s Day this weekend, and I was hoping for something a bit more intimate.”
“I love how you think, baby, but I have my orders.”
“Orders? Someone is ordering you around? Walker Reed?”
“Yeah, crazy, right? I’ve made a special exception for a very special person. Now, up we go!”
Stephen had loaded our bags onto our plane, and then I carried Fallon, and held Reese’s hand as we made our way up the stairs to her surprise. I settled our sleeping baby in the master suite with our nanny, and then had Reese close her eyes. When she opened them, they filled with tears at the sight of Lila and Thomas, both standing with open arms.
“Nana! Granddaddy! What are you doing here?”
“Surprise!” I stepped back and gave Reese time with her family. They embraced one another and then Lila happily explained all that she had planned.
“Reese, you know how much you mean to me, and to your grandfather. We have loved you so much, and it was an honor to raise you after your parents passed away. You have been our greatest gift, and as a gift to you, and to your family, we would like to do something for you.”
“Nana, you being here is enough. I was so sad when you left to go home to Georgia, but now I get to share Mother’s Day with you. Three generations of Mitchell women.”
“I’m very happy to hear you say that, but I do have something in mind.”
“Okay, what is it?”
“I would like to take you to Ireland for Mother’s Day, and to have our Fallon, be baptized in our church back home. The same church your beloved father was baptized in. I have made a christening gown for Fallon to wear, and I hope you agree.”
I was completely surprised, and that doesn’t happen too often. I knew Reese was born Catholic, and I didn’t actively practice any form of religion, but I wouldn’t stand in her way if this is what she chose for our daughter. I only found God a short time ago when my son had been sick. I never prayed so hard in my life, and have not taken one day for granted since he was saved.
In all my years designing and following my passion in Architecture, I had never seen anything so beautiful and breathtaking in all of my life, well, besides my Reese. The 13th Century structure known as, St. Brigid Cathedral was spectacular, and it was where generations of Mitchell babies were baptized, including Reese’s father, and now our daughter.  I had always loved Ireland, but to be here with my family made it so special. I had no time to include Jackson, Riley, and my mother to join us, but Lila had explained this was something just for Reese. No one was offended, but I still missed having them here. Lila explained that she wasn’t able to do this back then when Riley was born, reasons she didn’t want to share. She said they were part of the past now, and today was all that mattered.
Our beautiful Fallon Ryann Reed, was perfect up until it was time to shower the top of her soft brown curls with the blessed water. She let out a small cry, but then was soothed by Reese. An Irish blessing was given for our ‘little ruler’ for what her name means, and then we went on to celebrate at Lila and Thomas’s favorite pub. It was owned by their long life friend, Niall Daugherty. Music played throughout the bar, as I watched Reese, and her grandparents dance to the Irish Jig. They clapped in a big circle and called for me to join them. Why not, right? As a Reed, I had never experienced many traditions with my parents, until I had children of my own. To have married Reese, meant embracing her strong faith and love for family.
I spun Reese and then back into my arms. The crowd cheered us on, and then the music quieted down and Lila held our daughter to make an announcement. It felt like a circle of life kind of moment, but I just stood back and allowed Nana to have her moment with our daughter.
“Please welcome my great-great granddaughter, Fallon Ryann Mitchell Reed in to your hearts and into the hands of the lord. May strong arms hold you, caring hearts tend you, and may love await you at every step.” The crowd cheered and encircled Lila, and our baby to give their blessings and well-wishes. It was a surreal moment for me, and one that I would always cherish.
“Thank you Walker.”
“For?” I asked as I held my wife in my arms, as we made our way home.
“For this life you have given me, and every blessed day I get to share it with you, and our family. I could not have asked for a better Mother’s Day. It was amazing.”
“I believe all thanks goes to Lila, but thank you.”
“Yes, that may be true, but you made it happen. You work so hard with the sole purpose at making me happy, and you do every single day. I love you Walker Reed.”
“I love you more. You will always have my love, Reese.”
“Always and forever?”
“And then some.”

Happy Mother’s Day!

Xoxo,
Mary
